Question for 2010 ML owners re rear hatch chime

On my 2010 ML550 the hatch chime will go off twice on the way up and twice on the way down when opened with the key fob or the driver's door switch. However when opened with the rear hatch pull swith and closed with the buttons on the underside lip of the hatch there are no chimes. Is this correct?? On my 06 ML500 which this vehicle replaced the chime went off no matter how you opened and closed it and chimed continuously while the hatch was in motion. Does yours behave the same way?????

Mercedes figured that since the rear handle is pulled then its kind of obvious thats it is going to raise to so need to notify. The key fob is remote and there may be someone behind the vehicle that the key fob operator may not be aware of so it chimes. This is my take on it so if its not correct I am wrong lol.

Thanks!! Thats the same story that my SA at the dealership told me. Don't understand the reasoning but in a way it makes some sense.
