C-Rod, sorry can't answer this but I do have a question that you may be familiar with; My 06 ML500 had a tow away sensor on the alarm system. The control was with the MFD display at shut off. My 2010 does not have this MFD screen come up. Do we or don't we still have the tow away alarm sensor?? If so where can it be turned off?? Thanks!!

Thanks, please let me know what you find out. I had a discussion with my SA at the dealers yesterday and he did not know either. However I will share with you what he told me re the TPS in our vehicles. The sensor for tire pressure is in each valve stem. Stems MUST have plastic, not metal caps. Each stem has a battery built in and is not replaceable. The batteries are rated at an 80 month life after which the only way to renew the stem is to replace it. Current price is $160 US!! He also cautioned me about tire changes in the field as the stem can be damaged if the shop has no experience with them. The price is per stem!!
I also after a bit of a hunt was able to find the back up camera lens, its to the left of the license plate under the hatch handle lip.

Sosh,
I have seen this show up on an 2006 ML500 and it is also listed as a safety feature in the service manual. However on my 2007 ML350 this neither does show up nor it is listed in the manual. So...

Regarding the TPMS, they are sensors transmitting signals at 443 mhz with battery life for 7 years.
I found out TireRack carries each at $122.00 last week when I need to replace 2 of mine. Also, I've told 2 new alum stems, they call "retrofit set", were needed. I bought 2 at the DiscountTire website at $9.99 each, but later found on eBay a set of 4 for $19.99.
Hope this helps.

ML320CDI 2008 all options inc air suspension
Canadian vehicles dont use the valve stem version...ours uses the computer to count wheel speed and detects a low tire due to different rotation speed.. we just have standard valve stems.I prefer this sytem.

It mostly screws and pops on with plastic pop rivets. There is some technique to it for sure but its not rocket science. Ive never done it personally since Ive never worked on door line but Ive seen it done and its not hard.

Its a shame you do not have the TPMS. I like it as it takes what is a pain to do and makes it real easy. My 06 had the system that you have and it is OK but does not show you which tire is low when you have a warning and of course does not read the actual pressures. However it did save me a couple of times when I had a low tire with a nail or screw in it.

Did remove a Ml550 rear door panel
The 2010 ML550 rear door is attached with two screws and several plastic fastners. Access to the upper screw is behind the tweeter speaker grill. Grill slides back past a detent and lifts off. Lower screw is behind brushed metal trim strip which you gently remove by prying. Plastic fastners must be pryed away from door. Top is held with a clip at the rear that you lift panel off.
Sl500 is similar with a single screw under a cover in the door side pocket.
Hope that helps and is in theam with the thread.
