Here is a link to what I am talking about:

Expensive for a piece of plastic and some wires, but they've got you by the short hairs with this one......
I'm not sure of the cost, looking at my paperwork from the dealer you will need this....."6-7-82-4578 Media Interface"
I have a brand new ML and I complained to MBUSA that their brand new car had the old iPod technology and my expectation was that they would provide me the upgrade free of charge.....they did, I'm happy....
I just can't understand why it didn't come with the new one already???
For reference the iPhone 3G charges at 5V not 12V like the old devices.....

My references are correct ...Bub...
I know how to use a multisetter....the interface that Mercedes originally put in my car put out 12V.....ala Firewire....I know the older devices worked USB 5V or Firewire 12V......I also know the newer ones work USB only (5V)...
My frustration was with Mercedes not Apple....still can't understand why a BRAND NEW 2009 Mercedes wouldn't come with an interface capable of charging an iPhone 3G that came out in 2008?????....Especially considering that they have the new interface....they simply chose to use the old one....When you purchase a premium car you expect better....not sure how you being an iPhone rep makes you an expert on the parts Mercedes uses in it's cars....I hope the view is nice from your mall kiosk....

I agree with you that MB needed to do a better job on your 2009. I had a similar issue with my 2008 E350. Glad MB did the upgrade for you.
