In Taiwan, all the ML350 are equipped with the Audio20 stereo system. I really hate the cheap look of the Audio20 head-unit. And I am thinking of replacing the Command, but will the sound quality improve too?? BTW, the Command price is about USD:1,500, not even including the navigation..etc.
Should I go for it just for the better look??

 

I have seen price on eBay for head unit without Navi for only few hundreds bucks.

 

Sorry this is not a reply to your question but a new thread. I recently bought a 2009 ML 550 from the USA. Does anyone know if the European Comand APS Map 2009 for Hard Disk COMAND NTG2.5 would work on my comand system.

Thanks...!! But the Command unit for U.S. M-Class is totally different compare to the rest of the world. Attached pictures you can see the difference. They must have reasons why using two different kind of units. Any expertise can explain?? (Euro Spec. A 164 820 09 79) IMHO, I think the Euro type Command has better look on the face panel, even the right bottom side control switch is prettier!!

the us version command has a motorized flip down screen to load a CD.

 

What in your left picture is a NTG 2.5 and it does not support the US Comand wirings on your truck.
If your replace your current head with a NTG 2.5 you should make an extensive work with wirings including the loops. Good luck.

 

No...., actually the Command with NTG 2.5 (starting from 2009) should look like this....! Picture attached

 

before you buy anything, find out who can install. It will cost you a arm and leg if you go back to dealer...
