Power folding mirror DIY?

My girlfriend and I are looking to add an ML350 to the collection as a daily driver for her, we're been able to find a few low mileage 2009's that are pretty much loaded except for the power folding mirror option. Is the power mirror option an easy DIY project? This is a must have because of the garage space the ML will be in during the week, I don't want her needing to remember to get out and fold the mirrors every time she parks.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Not to sure about the do it yourself thing, but the mirror fold in feature is enabled through the instrument cluster setup menu.
If I remember, a package 2 optioned vehicle should have it. Also a lot of the features on these are enabled by the dealer via their diagnostic computer.. Check with them if that is available.
Hope you find a nice ride.

Folding mirrors works hand-in-hand with memory option, i.e. seat position, mirror postion (for visibility), steering column position. Not sure it's the same controller in the door, then. Of course it requires new motors in the mirrors.

Actually I believe that the entire mirror assemblies must be replaced and the memory module installed. The cost of doing this is quite high and that alone would make me not consider it. Just try to find one that has this feature. May be difficult as it is found on only highly optioned vehicles as so far as the ML350 is concerned. Would be much easier to fine an ML500 or 550 with them as a rule these were usually higher optioned ML's

Thanks for the info as it turns out she bought a highly optioned 2010 ML550 over the weekend with power folding mirrors included, it's a pretty nice ride!
