I have read posts speculating that the new ML will come out in 2013 as a 2014 model year.
I am a previous employee of a large supplier to MB both here in the US (US made models) and overseas and had come across a Daimler Benz spreadsheet that listed the upcoming tentative schedule for the next decade. It listed the new ML to come out as a 2014. Of course this means nothing as manufacturers change their schedules around market conditions all the time. Looking back however the W163 was produced from 1998 until 2005 model year (8 model years). The W164 came out in 2006 MY so if they keep the same schedule they will replace it in 8 model years which is 2014. MB and German manufacturers keep their designs for about 8 years. This is unlike US and Asian manufacturers that change their product offering every couple of years.
Of course MB could come out with another facelift as they did so in 2009, in order to keep the buyers interested in the product, however this would be a facelift and not a redesign.
