Noise after turnoff-2010 ML350

I was told by my dealer when I bought the vehicle that this is a normal function and is a feature of the vehicle. When you are waiting for A short period of time it will keep the passenger compartment heated/cooled for a while after you exit the vehicle. It also makes sense that it would help eliminate the musty smell from the A/C, as it would run air by the condenser for some time after shutting off the vehicle allowing it to dry out. Seems like a pretty nice feature to me, not a "problem" as many are concerned about.

Fan doesnt turn off
My 2009 GL 320 Bluetec developed this problem recently. after the engine is turned off, the fan came on.. it ran till the battery went dead. Following day , jump started it, got it running.. checked it out . upon turning off it went off.. Two days later came out to the car and it was dead again.. jumped it and pulled the fuse chart out and began trying to turn it off.,. to no avail.. after running for about 4 hours it finally turned off.. I am told this is normal.. ??

2007 Mercedes-Benz GL450
I have a 2011 ml350 and am in Hawaii. I started noticing this and it has been ongoing for the past 9 months. The noise is heard throughout the whole night as I go and check on it a few times to see if it ever stopped. I have never had a dead battery. When I check it, I do see the A/C rest button lit on.
When the car was in Ohio, I never noticed this. I also have a 2007 gl450 in the same garage but it does not do the same thing. Just thought it was very odd.
