1999 ML 320,Key fob wouldn't function to lock or unlock vehicle, when opened door manually and put key in ignition.....got nothing, not even a click. Battery had power and jump start still yielded nothing when key turned but lights came on and radio would play.
Mechanic say's it is AAM.
Anyone had this experience, and what was the cost to fix ??

You may get better responses if you post this on the W163 forum. This one is W164, 2006 and up. However I will say that before you go off and replace the AAM with a new one at great expense I would have this diagnosed by a dealer with the STAR system. Sounds to me like your mechanic is not equipped with the STAR and is an independent. Could be something a lot less expensive than the AAM.
