Today, I was driving to Mercedes Benz of Encino to pick up some car care products and at a stoplight outside of the dealer, I saw some service ML vehicle from the dealer with the same DRL's as the GL550. The whole bumper looked different as well and the headlights were the same. Is there any version of the ML now that allows for LED Daytime Running Lamps? I found this strange as I hear the next ML will be more re-designed. Any comments?

 

I assume you've now seen the later post on the Carlsson parts.

 

I really wouldn't assume that the dealer would put Carlsson parts on a dealer service vehicle. Plus, the round fogs were not there. Only the chrome LED's. They were identical to the GL550 ones.

Hmmm. The grill and bumper look like something from Acura. This is much better and hopefully closer to reality.

These "artist renderings" are probably not based on any real insight, as it is too early. I would hope the design advances further than either of these ideas suggest. I hope the size stays exactly the same, which is perfect for me. I put my preorder in a couple weeks ago (doesn't hurt), but BMW and Audi will be on my radar as well for our next SUV.

 

I think you are looking at the wrong pictures if you want to know the 2011 ML.

We know the R, ML, and GL are all made on the same line and use more or less the same parts.

Thanks for the links. The next gen will be 2012, I supect, out 6 years after the W164 came out in mid-'05. Not sure about the "smaller" part. As I mentioned earlier, I think the current one is just the right size for those without a large family.

 

Trust me, its not the new R-Class. I'm too much of a MB fanatic to not know the difference Anyways, what I saw is on the front page of benzworld.org under the post about the new S class engines. It's a special edition for the ML for the next model year. Here's a pic attached.

 

im actually waiting on 2010 ml550 was to be built this month expecting mid june delivery. but i was assured that the major change in the look for '11 is the led fog lights and minor to most unnoticeable body changes. and its in my contract that if he's wrong and the ml gets a redesign for '11 he will buy it back.

Theres no total redesign of the ML for 2011. I would know since the plant will start to build the 2011 next month. The plant is already set up for the 2011 R for next month and would also be set up for the ML if there was a change and theres not(in the grand sceme of things).

 

2011 M-Class will not change much except some styling modifications and few more features. Also MB fixed some known electrical bugs.
