Tire recommendations for ML 320 cdi

Please recommend a long wear tire 235/65 R17 as I drive 40k miles/yr for work.

Recomend same tires it came with or another brand MO tire. MO=Mercedes specification.

Car is designed Autobahn-ready and for high performance tires that, yes, normally only live for 20-25K miles. Granny tires are a downgrade.

Here are most of the OEM that the ML came with.
Lately I have been a fan of Conti's over Michelin.

Huh?

We're talking about a diesel SUV that takes 8 seconds to get to 60....there is nothing high performance about them.

There is no need to use tires that are typically OEM for MB. There are lots of good options out there. Tirerack has some good info on tire ratings that take into account both performance in different conditions and tread wear.

Yokohama Geolandar HT. Much better than the Contis that came on it and the Michelins I used as replacements the first time. When I put the Yokos on at 60,000 miles, it felt like I had a new car again. The ride improvement was that good!

I am going to try these Conti's next time. DWS, I do not think these were OEM tires on the ML.

I just got the non-RFT Conti DWS for the X5 and have been extremely happy so far. In only the few weeks that I've had them I've seen dry, rain, and significant snow, with no issues regardless of the condition. They are quiet and ride very smooth.

I used Yokohama YK250s and love them. The OEM Contis were good thou. I got 26+K on them and they still have about half of the original thread, may be good for another 20K...

The OEM conti's are very different from the DWS mentioned above.

I picked up a little compressor unit and injectable sealant. The compressor will deal with a slight loss in pressure. The sealant would only be a last resort as you typically have to replace the tire afterwards...but it does suggest I can get 160 miles out of it. It makes quite a mess of the tire and rim once you get inside...lol. (I worked in a tire shop in high school).

RFT's aren't really a decent solution where I live anyways. They recommend only driving 50 miles on a RFT after it loses pressure....which potentially could leave me stranded with no cell service/BMW assist. What would I do in one of those 100-150 mile stretches without service stations or cell service?
