Arrow HELP: Squeaking windshield after repair

I recently replaced the windshield on my 2007 ML320CDI for the third time (thank you I-5). In the past I haven't had a problem with the replacement however this time I'm having nothing but problems.

Now the window is squeaking with every little bit of body flex and it sounds as if the glass itself is flexing. Additionally, there is a significant amount of wind noise at speeds over 55-60mph. The dealer's glass company changed the glass yet again and the problem seems even worse. I watched them change the glass and it seemed to fit in perfectly. There was a bit of residue left over from the previous installations around the opening and the bead of sealant used was supposedly the recommended amount. Every time the glass was replaced it was replaced with OEM glass.

The glass company and I are both at our wits end. Has anyone has a similar problem? Does anyone has any ideas.

Thanks.

Glenn

I had a similar exp and there was a spot where the sealant hadn't made contact with the glass...i had serious wind noise and since it was in the bottom corner and a bit out of alignment, some sqeaking as well...from the interior trim contacting the glass just enough to squeak....not sure if you are using MB original glass for your replacement but if they cant make it seal, perhaps its just not a quality replacement...also glass co's have a limited install warranty so you have to get it sorted out or be faced with covering it yourself....keep us posted as glass replacement in a vehicle of this price always freaks me out...especially since the next chip or crack is out there waiting.

Your issue is caused by an incorrect installation and/or incorrect sealant or rubber trim used. Thats assuming that the glass was in fact OEM.
