Lease End Buyout Option

I am currently leasing '08 ML350 with P2 option. The lease expires at the end of September. The vehicle currently has approximately 30.5k miles. The vehicle has been absolutely issue free (I am knocking on the wood as I type). MBF just called and gave me the usual lease end options. The buyout option price is $30.5k. The fact that the vehicle has been completely issue free is the only reason I am considering to purchase this vehicle. Is this is a decent deal for '08 ML? Do MBF negotiate? If any of you have purchased your vehicle at the end of lease, please share your experience.

Only sometimes do they negotiate. Do not believe you will get the 10% though. They sometimes wait till the last minute to negotiate and you will get a better deal by waiting until the very end of the lease.

I'm in the same situation with my wife's 2008 ML550. The dealer called us and wanted to find out what my wife would like to do when her lease is up on 10/31/2010. I mentioned she may buy it at lease end. The dealer asked us to come in so they can check the truck and then give us a buyout price plus CPO. We haven't set a date yet as we have another 2 1/2 month left. Her residual is $39k, she would buy the truck if they offer her $35K.

The dealer did mentioned the pull ahead program for our truck. (waiver last 3 lease payment)

The question is should we negotiate with MBFS or the dealer?

ps:Last month, someone on this board negotiated with MBFS and received around 2k or 3k discount from residual.

Dealer really has nothing to do with this. Its entirely MB Financial. Your dealers interest is self serving and hoping for a sale of a new one. As far as the CPO warranty he is unable to do it unless he actually owns the vehicle in his inventory. For you to sell him the vehicle and buy it back you put yourself at risk of paying sales tax again. Although he could buy it from MB Financial. Do not think he would do that unless there is a profit to be made.

Thank you all for your advice. I'll wait it out till the last week to negotiate. My lease expires on Oct 1. I plan to offer them $27k. I'll keep you guys posted with my experience.
