Lug nuts with aftermarket wheels
Still trying to figure out this ride problem.
Has anyone used there original lug nuts with aftermarket wheels? Or did you have to use nuts specific to the wheels you purchased?
Thanks

MBWorld Fanatic!
Most Mercedes bolts use a ball seat and many (most?) after-market wheels require bolts with a cone seat.
Using ball seat bolts with cone seat wheels is a recipe for wheel failure, so you'll want to run those details to ground before bolting in your after-market wheels.
Hope that info helps....

Offset
Thanks guys. The offset is +30 they are 19"x8". My original lug bolts are conical where they meet the wheel. The aftermarket wheels look to be squared off where the lug bolt meets it, no cone shape to receive the bolt.
They also seem to take less turns to tighten them compared to my original MB wheels. The manufacturer said the hubs are accurate, they're CNC'd and the garage said they do fit snuggly.

I think I found the problem
OK, I jusy went out and closely inspected the original vs aftermarket wheels and the lug bolts.
My original Benz wheels have a cone shaped area to receive the bolts, the cone shaped surfaces match up perfectly and make contact over the entire surface of the cone. The original lug bolts, when used on the new aftermarket wheels only make contact on the first approx 1/16" of the conical surface, the very outside edge, and the rest is untouched.
Could this be causing the feeling that my tires are oblong instead of perfectly round?
