06 ml500 brake lights

my ml500 brake lights kept switching over to alternate lights. took it to the dealer and the answer was to rewire the lights with new harness to not overload circuit. this was done at my cost.
has anyone had this change done and did they have to pay for it? seems a mercedes design problem should be covered by mercedes.

Owned an 06 ML500 for 4 years before getting my 2010 ML550. Never had this issue nor have I heard of it happening to anyone else. Only thing I can think of is that if you have not owned the car since new someone else had done some DIY mods to the wiring and/or lights. If it was truely a design issue there certainly would have been some mention of it here or on other boards. I think that there must be more to this than you are mentioning or that you have been told.
I see from your post that you had had an AC Ace. I had many years ago an Acecca Coupe and also in the mid 60's an AC Cobra. Both were wonderful cars and I wish I had kept the Cobra.

I own a 2006 ML 500 and the exact same thing is happing with mine. the Mercedes dealer admits it is a design flaw with the contacts the work around is 40.00 and solider required unless you want to pay them to do it.

Mercedes has a repair kit for the brake light problem, it's caused by a poor ground connection. You can get the repair kit on Amazon, the part no. is A 164 826 00 07.
