Steering Wheel Vibration - Need Advice
I have been experiencing mild to moderate vibration in the steering wheel when the car is stopped in D or R. The RPMs are constant and the engine is NOT running rough. Check Engine light is off and the car drives okay other than this issue. I took it to the dealership twice already. They ran diagnostics, but nothing jumped out at them. They said they checked engine mounts and found them to be okay. They said this is "normal" and refuse to take any other steps to find a solution. According to the service advisor, they have called MB corporate and they said there is nothing they can do at this point. What are my options at this point? I simply refuse to believe that it's "normal" for $50K luxury SUV to vibrate like a $5K used Honda.
BTW, I have 2009 ML350 with 20K miles on it.
Any advice is greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
If you stay on P turn all the way steering wheel. If you hear vibration or engine tries to keep RPMs just check the level. If the level is OK than might be the compressor. I have a lot of vibrations on my ML 320 some of them I fixed some not yet
The entire engine cover/airbox came off of the mounts. One mounting "bolt" was actually loose.
If you lift up on the "air box" for lack of a better term, you will see it attaches to 4 bolt like rods and 1 clip toward the back of the engine. I was able to tighten the loose bolt, then with pliers, pinched the 4 clamps/clips on the airbox all the way together. Then re-install the airbox. The tightened clips and tightened up bolt changed the whole thing.
The wife and I felt the vibration through the wheel to floor and into the pedal.
Smooth as silk now.
