New tyres for ML280CDI

I have an Ml280CDI with 15500 miles on clock. The front tyres appear quite worn on the outer edges, worst on the nearside tyre.
The tyres are 255 50 19W Michelin Diamaris. Is this wear normal on fronts and are these the best tyres to fit.

Worn on outer edges mean low inflation, they should last you longer but what does quite worn mean to you?

Hi thanks for replying. The car went into Mercedes for service at the end of October. No report of tyre problems although the front tyres look worn on the outer inch of the tyre.I took the car to an independent tyre supplier and he said they were ok legal.I was told that they could be totaly worn on that part of the tyre and still be legal.Although when I look at the tyres purely cosmetic to the vehicle they look worn.Tyre pressures have always been correct when checked.I have ordered a digital tyre depth gauge and I am going to take some measurements.
I have been told powersteering can scrub outer tyres dont know if this is correct.

Sounds like underinflation, and also you make no mention of rotating the tires. They should have been done at least once in your mileage.Since those are the original tires, you can really only expect 25 to35 k miles from them. The next set you will see better life.In the future you can check the tires a bit sooner and adjust inflation to keep wear even. There are several good websites showing you pics of tires with your symptoms and giving tips on how to stay on top of it.

Thankyou for the advise did not know about rotating tyres around.I will do so in the future to ensure tyres last longer.
