New 2011 ML350 sound system issues – too much bass!
Just leased a new 2011 ML350 w P1 and heated seats. Previously had a 2008 ML350. Love the vehicle so far, but I am having some issues with the sound system.
Compared to the sound system in my 2008 ML (also had the base system, not premium), the sound in my new ML is extremely bass heavy. Even with the bass turned all the way off in the settings, it is overly loud and boomy. Some tracks are almost unlistenable the bass is so overwhelming, even with it turned all the way down. I have noticed its worse when my iPod is plugged in, but it is still pretty bad with the Sat radio and CDs as well. I played with the balance and fader a bit as well and when I push the sound all the way to the front, the sound is not as boomy. So it seems the rear speakers may be worse than the front.
Don’t know if they significantly downgraded the base sound system in the newer ML’s or if I potentially have an issue with mine. Anyone else experiencing this in a 2010 or 2011 ML350 with the base sound system?

Not sure if there is a problem or not, but does your ipod have the equalizer on? Is o this may be why the bass is heavier when you plug it in.

I don't have this problem with my system, but I don't have an aux input hooked up. I believe I have bass set at about mid-level - I'll check next time I'm in the car.
