shopping for a diesel 07-08 . do the 08 really need the addblue to run?
I know it will stop running after the tank is empty.but does the car actually need it to run right??if not needed can we deactivate with the star computer the program that askes us to add the aadblue?

No ''adblue'' until 09...and they wont start after its been empty for awhile and had several restarts while showing an ''empty'' message...its a programming thing to make sure its not run without it.No doubt done to appease the law. At any rate, its cheap and easy to refill yourself.pick it up cheap at any truck stop or VW dealer...stay away from the MB dealer unless you want to pay Top dollar.

There is no way to "adjust the computer" to make the car run without adblue.

For one thing, you'll never find a mechanic who will even consider making this illegal modification.
