Production process for custom ML350
Hi everyone,
I placed an order for a custom ML350 BlueTec at the end of December, and have been waiting for it to start production for the past month. The dealer says "factory delays" caused things to be stuck in B3 ("no changes") for about three weeks, but it's in production now. They're saying to keep fingers crossed for a delivery date in the last week of March. I asked about a VIN, and they said it isn't available until production completes. I'm guessing that this is now B4.
I'm curious if the delay was really because of the factory, or instead a case of the dealer giving someone else the production spot they originally had set aside for my order. The dealer swears this has nothing to do with them, and that 8-12 weeks from the order being placed until delivery will still be met.
So did MB really get caught off-guard by a strong end of 2010 and maybe run out of diesel engines or perforated leather? Or is this just another case of a dealer making stuff up? It is my first MB and first custom order, so that may be making the wait seem even worse than it is.

I ordered a ML350 BlueTEC on October 27, 2011 and was expecting a December 15th delivery but this has now been pushed to Jan 13, 2012 plus delivery time to DC. Does 10 weeks seem appropriate to anyone on this site?
