Going to test drive an ML tomorrow 
This will be my first SUV purchase so can you guys tell me what I should be looking for in this test drive as far as when on the road and bells and whistles?

Test drive on both ml350 & 550

You also have to try the diesel (BlueTec) model.
As for bells and whistles, Xenon lights were a must have for me. The rest is up to personal preference. Have fun.

Very nice car, not as peppy as the X5 but it does move pretty well.
I like the luxurious feeling of the interior and the drive itself was pretty smooth.
Test drove the 4Matic version.
Dealer told me that they cannot order any 2011 anymore and that what's on the lots now is the inventory. I was looking to get the lighting package but that could be the tricky one. Premium package 1 along with the entertainment package on black exterior /black MB tex interior with aluminum runnings boards are doable right now.
I'm going to start sending my configuration to dealers and see what I get back.
The dealer also told me the 2012 will only have a minor facelift and not that much extra.

ML350 BLuetec is good alterative as previously stated. 27-28 highway MPG for this size and 4 matic is impressive. We love ours, a 1000 miles into it. P1, running boards, heated seats are our options.
