Oil changes are not free with Warranty?

Guys, first time MB owner and was surprised to hear that you still need to pay for oil changes at each scheduled interval even on a new car?

True dat?

All of other automobile brand owners as Audi, Acura, Lexus, Lamborghini, Maserati, Mercedes Benz, Land Rover......are not surprised to pay for their oil changes.

Both my BMWs had free oil changes during their warranties? I had no idea BMW was the minority with their warranties, kind of sucks for the other makers to make us pay when we are paying premium already for their automobiles.

Free= added to your purchase price at time of purchase without describing it as such.

Unfortunately, MB dropped the free maintenance program back in 2004 or 2005.

Yep; Vernl is correct. BMW does calculate the "free" service price into their purchase prices while other car manufacturers, like MB, don't. MB does allow you to pre-purchase service deals. My wife has that on her car. We pre-purchased a Service A and Service B when she got the car and we got a third one for free. There are different packages you can get; talk to your dealer and he/she will be able to tell you more.

You may also notice that BMW's oil change interval is 15K miles vs Mercedes 10K interval.

This means they're only changing it three times during your 50K mile warranty period.

They won't be changing your auto trans fluid at all.

The state of education in the USA may be worse than thought if there's anybody out there that believes anything is free.

Worse would be if people accept that 3 oil changes in 50000 miles on a precision built BMW engine is a smart move.

BMW has free maintenence for 4 years 50K miles.A few other manufacurers offer it as well.MB doesn't.I,for one, took that into consideration when moving from BMW to MB and felt that, all things considered,it was worth it.

Not entirely correct.BMW's policy is...whatever the vehicle's computer says (my computer averaged every 9K miles) or every year.
