what should the rev speed be for cruising at 100km (60MPH)
what should the rev speed be for cruising at 100km (60MPH) i noticed that in my car that i drive (2011 300CDI) it goes above 2000rpm or just above and stays in 6th gear after a minute or so then it goes into 7th gear. Is this normal??? or is this beceause the filter is being cleaned and it needs to be above 2000rpm?? any information would be great thanks!!

Not sure what it should be but I float around 2100 rpm. On a cold engine, my car will hang in 6th longer than usual (23 to 2400) then shift. Once warm it's smooth normal shifting

Have both a 2006 ML305 gas engine and 2010 ML350 Bluetec... The Gas engine indicates approx 2100 rpm @ 60 mph; the Diesel indicates approx 1800 rpm at 60 mph.
The transmission will be slower to shift up to 7th before engine and transmission is fully warmed up.
The driver adaptive feature of the transmission will also affect the shift pattern... I am more conservative in my driving style and the trans will shift to 7th sooner than my wife's vehicle. She is a more aggressive driver and her trans will down shift sooner and hold a higher rpm longer before shifting.
