sorry to be the bearer of bad news but the 06 ML is arguably the most problem prone model year ML in the last decade. This was the introduction year of the W164 remodel and many issues exist. The vehicle is out of factory warranty and I assume doesn't have the extended warranty. A 3rd party warranty is a discussion unto itself.

Now, there might be some 06 owners pipe in that theirs has been relatively trouble free. Anything is possible. I think most people would advise staying away from an 06.

I owned an 06 ML500 from new purchased in Sept 05. This ML was my 3rd and was bullet proof. During my tenure of ownership it never required a dealer visit for other than routine servicing. I kept the 06 until Sept 09 when I took delivery of my 2010 ML550. I dont believe what this poster is saying and did he ever experience ownership of an 06 or is he shootiing from the hip.??
