No compass on my command navigation

ML 350
No compass on my command navigation
I just bought a 07 ML 350 and it has Command DVD navigation but i noticed i have no compass on the nav screen. My manuel shows it on the main menu of the nav screen with a soft key on the botton left but i dont have that in my car. Any info is greatly appreciated I called MB service and the guy on phone had no clue. Thanks

Not sure if this'll help but on my 2011 ML I have the compass in three locations as per the pictures below:
Lower Left of the NAV screen
and Rear View Mirror
Lower Left of the NAV screen

Yes i have nav use it all the time. It looks just like your screen for the nav main menu except under mode i dont have anything that says compass. Ive called mercedes' main customer service and even took it to a dealer and had service look at it. Both of them keep telling me that if your car has nav than it doesnt have compass. But im sure there confused with the in dash compass that is disabled if you have nav. My command manuel shows the main menu of the navigation just as yours looks gatekeeper. Would love to know what happened to mine.

What year is your ML, what version is your Command, maybe an update is needed ?, maybe something in the secret menu has been turned off, look on how to enter this menu and poke around. If you still have warranty have the dealership look into it and fix, show them the pics I have provided, they are from a ML350, 2007

Mine is a 2007 with factory Nav. Same soft key gives me the compass as shown above. If your dealer doesn't know this, then they are not familiar enough with your vehicle to confidently work on it.
By the way, if you turn the steering wheel, the pictured vehicle's wheel turns, and the steering angle is displayed. (+ or -) I guess that would be neat if you are mapping your own backwoods course.

Alright i got a call back from Mercedes. They keep saying that if my vehicle has nav than compass is disabled. Same thing the dealer service tech said. Its like they never heard of the compass that is in the nav system. They are definatly confused with the compass in the instrument panel. And this is the main tech people for mercedes customer server 800 367 6372. I dont know were else to go with this now. I may just quit worring about it Even though im still puzzled as to why my factory navigation doesnt have it.

Go to another dealership, and get a different tech........somewhere, somehow, it seems this feature has been turned off or disabled, they should hook up your car to star diagnostics and check it out completely.
If the vehicle is still under warranty, then don't give up, have them locate and fix the problem......be persistent
there is a secret menu you can get into, I am not sure if it will help or not, but you can try looking in there to see if any setting has been disabled.
I can check on mine to see if I can find anything, by the way, you do have the Navigation CD installed in the command unit right ? maybe if it's not in then this don't work ? just guessing....

Well i do have the dvd in the drive and use the nav all the time. Thanks for all the info too. I am in NJ and have a few MB dealers i can try. I am hoping it is just turned off. It seems to cool to just not have it. Im supprised how stupid the tech people are with this.

Best of luck in getting it sorted out.....I just checked mine, I don't see a way of turning it off, or to disable, so I don't know how you would enable it.....be persistent with the dealer is the best I can offer.....

njgoodfella, you could print out the pictures from GateKeeper's post to show the Dealers what you are referring to.
Also ask them to check out their demo ML for the compass. In my 2011 ML it's also available but with an updated interface and in higher resolution.

I am having the same problem with my w203 mcs2. i had the compass after i got the new DVD 2011 map disk and then i did a factory reset on my nav and now i cannot get it back. I don't know how i got it the first time. It was just their. I wish i didn't reset my nav to default. any update from the dealer.

I am resurecting this post to provide an answer in case someone is still interested.
This can be enabled via DAS on the IC and entertainment, under comand, and additional features. It should have a compass option. If you need specific steps let me know.
