I have tried all the suggestions from the forum including the MB instruction for the W164 but all have failed to clear. I have to query the MB instructions as they refer to the dash illumination button when in fact this is the reset button so not a lot of faith they have it correct.

I do not really want to spend 4 hours and big buck to drive way out of my way to get this cleared when all I needed was an oil and filter change.

There has to be a simple reset.

hit the R button not the illumination button as stated......it works, I just did it on my 2007 ML 350

and your at the right screen, when your hitting the button 3 times, and key is in the correct position ? perhaps your pressing the button too fast or maybe too slow.

on my previous car, I pressed 3 (or 5) times 'R' button to get in maintenance mode

check other forums (R,...) for details ..

on 2008 ML 320, I did differently - through menu
