Nav GPS - avoid highway? (2010 ML, NTG2.5)

Nav GPS - avoid highway? (2010 ML, NTG2.5)
I have a 2010 ML550 with Command NTG2.5 (North America) and was wondering if there's a "Avoid Highways" setting in the GPS that I'm just not seeing?
When I have a destination active I know I can go to "Route -> Alternate Route" and browse through a handful of alternate routes by choosing "next"/"previous" but not even one of the alternate routes avoided highways even though there's place on the screen indicating this is theoretically possibly! I know its traditional to bash the MB GPS functionality...but I'm hoping I'm just overlooking something.
