How to tighten steering?

Hey all!
Just a quick question to the techs out there.... about how to tighten the steering?

Would a new steering damper or replacing the linkage assembly do the trick?
Also, is an alignment required thereafter?

I'm finding the 08 ML a bit mushy in terms of steering response.

a tad more air pressure in the tires.....? I like the "mushy" feel, I know it will grab when I need it to dig in and corner. Coming from a 1998 Dodge Durango, My 08 ML will out corner the ole Dodge anyday while delivering 10x the ride quality.

Bigger wheels along with lower profile tires give a more responsive ride. Do you have 18s or 19s ?

Factory 19's.. but I already upgraded to 20's.
I've also played with the air pressures... and while I can manipulate the handling and softness of the ride.. I still prefer to tighten the feel of the steering wheel. I guess I'm trying to say, the feeling of the steering wheel is a bit mushy.
