I'm in the process of lowering mine. You have two choices; Eibach or H&R progressive rate lowering springs. Based upon my research Eibachs will give you a 1.4" drop in the front and 1" in the rear. H&Rs will give you 1.5-2" drop all around. Eibachs will give you a softer ride (but they will also improve your handling and performance) and the H&Rs will give you stiffer handling and performance and, a harsher ride. The H&Rs are more expensive and a little thicker than the Eibachs. Both can be purchased on Amazon or eBay for a lot less than a dealer sells them. Cost to install them runs about $750.00 and $150.00 for the 4-wheel alignment. You're tires are not going to wear evenly and you won't get your ML aligned to OEM spec. Personally, I'm going with the H&Rs. You can purchase OEM LED tail lights on eBay.

I have had H&R springs in my ML since Sept 2010 and I love them and have had no problems with them. I am now looking at buying light weight Forgestars for it.

see my post

I have pics with the H&R springs and I love the height. I can't imagine being higher with the Eibachs, but I wouldn't know about the ride difference. I have pics with 22"'s as well as 20"s.

Thanks for the advice (really like your car Yister). I think I'll go for Eibach since the Mongolian road condition is terrible. I'm going for some modification. Just bought 2011 Grande Edition 20'' rims with Pirelli rubber on it. Think i need snow tires cuz its snowing day n night here.

And also are there any other nice modification with reasonable price?

I am surprised you selected 20" rims?
I would have thought that smaller rim diameters would be preferable on the Mongolian roads (I have only seen them on TV).
Less rim means more rubber means more flex hence softer ride. (OK it does means softer handling too).

I specified 18" when 19" was the standard option. They still handle respectably on the bitumen, but provide much more cushioning on rocky tracks so I am much less likely to damage the rim.

And I do have another vehicle to vent my aggresion on a good bitumen road!
