navigation update

2009 ML 500

navigation update

Hey guys... I have a 2009 ML500 with the COMAND unit, when I press the navigation "button" I only get the compass, My question Is...Can I have the full navigation??? Do I need an GPS antena?, Where can I get the software to update it?

Is your vehicle hard drive based or DVD based ? Sorry I don't know what model uses what, my 2007 is DVD based and the DVD must be present in the drive in order to have Navigation working.

Gatekeeper, I think is DVD based, because in the users manual cant find something about a Hard disk...... (i dont know if this helps, the face of the unit has in the top a litle hole for a media card, and under it the cd/dvd hole)

get a garmin or use your iphone. Don't sink 1000$ on a new head unit.

i have seen command nav on ebay around $3-400. not bad in my book. i'm surprised that the ML500 doesn't have nav or p1. all of the 350s i saw have p1. the only problem with adding nav yourself is adding back up camera is not as straight forward and cost effective.
