ML-350 Bluetec 2010 Comand Version and Upgrade
I just bought my first MB, an ML-350 Bluetec 2010 with COMAND Navi.
I'm looking for instructions on how to find out the version of software/firmware currently installed.
I'm trying to find out whether the software is up to date. If it's not, then I'll be interested in upgrading it to make sure I benefit from the latest features / bug fixes.
Any advice on the most cost effective way to perform the upgrade?
From the few posts I have read, it seems to straight forward enough to be done outside the dealership. I'm still under the CDN 4yrs/80,000KM warranty, which should remain in force as I'm the second owner of the vehicle.
Thanks for any input.

They will reflash the unit with the most recent software per the WIS instructions.
Unfortunately, only the dealer has access to doing the upgrades through the Star Diagnostics System. This way you don't have to pay a gazillion dollars for the upgrade.

The firmware handles EVERYTHING within the Nav aside from the actual maps.
The firmware is the entire interface. There is a possibility that the new firmware would allow one to use larger SD cards like on the W221 and add some new features.
However, it was my mistake, didn't realize you were asking about the actual maps.
Navteq supplies the maps and they are sent via a DVD and you simply insert the disc to update the maps and then remove it until the next upgrade.
