My clean engine bay!

Well I decided to clean my engine bay it wasn't very dirty anyways but I have found that maintaining it is quite easy if you do it every now and then. All the dirt and dust comes off quite easily!

What degreaser did you use, did you power wash?
How did you protect the electronics? Cover with plastic bags??
When I used to do these many years ago, after cleaning and when the engine was still wet, I would spray it with "Son of A Gun" silicone shine. When it dried, the motor had a complete gloss look.

Yours came out really nice. I have this on my list to do, but I am really paranoid of seeing a "check engine" after. Tips appreciated.

Sure thing!!! First off I turned the engine on to warm it up. Then I brushed off as much dust as I could, as you don't want too much dust and water mixing and sticking to your engine.

Then I used a trigger nozzle on a hose and put on the lowest setting so its pretty much spraying mist onto the engine.

Then I spray P21S all over the engine and use a brush and agitate all over the engine and it should foam up, the dirt should lift off quite easily, then again using the same settings on my trigger nozzle hose, I mist off all the P21S.

You can work in sections if you want.

Then dry with a cloth and soak up any water sitting in any cracks that can't drain on its own!!

You can put the cover on and bonnet and run the engine to help evaporate the water.

I didn't cover up any plugs as I had called MB and they said it should be fine and the lack of any pressure from my trigger nozzle (I believe) was not sufficient enough to do any harm but if you did cover it up it wouldn't hurt.

After its all dry you can spray some rubber protectant (303 Aerospace) on a piece of cloth and wipe down the hoses, I didn't spray it on as I didn't want any to get on the belts as I didn't want it to slip or anything.

It's been running fine I don't see or feel any negative impact on the performance of the engine.

wow.. that is clean and thanks for the suggestions. how did you make sure that you sprayed off all the P21S from the engine? I thought that product needed to be sprayed off pretty well and I was wonder whether just misting water would do it. I know you wiped off but didn't think that would be sufficient either.

You can always adjust your water settings to what you desire as long as your not blasting your engine. You can spray as much or as little as P21S as you want.
