Media Interface and iPhone 4

Media Interface and iPhone 4
I need some help. For some reason I am having difficulty connecting my iPhone to the Media Interface in the ML to play music files.
I am using the standard media cable (not the Media Interface Plus) that came with the ML, the same cable that I use to listen to my wife’s iPod all the time without issue.
But this weekend when I tried to connect my iPhone to listen to some music files it wouldn’t read any of the files no matter what I tried. It kept displaying "No Files Detected" .
I plugged the iPod back in and it worked fine, tried the iPhone again and nothing….
Believe it or not this is the first time in 18 months I tried to connect my iPhone because like I mentioned usually my wife's iPod is plugged in.
Any suggestions, is there a trick to connecting an iPhone?

First, I don't know anything about connecting the phone to the ML, but I have had the same thing happen when connecting the phone to a computer if the phone is locked. When it is locked, you can't see any pictures or music, so maybe that's your problem. Unlock the phone, and then connect it to the car.

Anytime I have connected the phone it wasn't locked so I don't think that's the problem..
I will reboot the phone and see if maybe that works..
