Replacing ML550 OEM Brakes with AMG Brakes

Has anyone attempted to change their OEM Brakes for either the ML 350 or 550 for the larger, piston style AMG brake set for all four wheels? If so any advise on pricing and where to purchase? Thanks

The idea is great and would be a very EASY upgrade, however, the issue is the parts. Very few ML63 parts are floating around the web and at salvage yards and the ones that do have them want as much as the parts new from Mercedes. If everything was purchased from the dealer it would easily run between $3,500-4,500 for the retrofit.

For that kind of money, it would be worth going with Brimbo or Alco's

^^There is NO such thing as Brimbo or Alco brakes.

The real brakes are BREMBO's and ALCON's.

Our OE brakes on the ML550 are made by Brembo.

Instead of making a new thread I decided to resurrect this one. It's time for me to change rotors and pads and I want to go with the amg brakes. Does anyone knows whether it is an easy swap? Will I have to change wheel hub or knuckle or anything? All I could find on the web was a ml 350 with AMG brakes, but the post was about repainting the calipers...

Any help would be much appreciated

You could just paint em like they did. Sure it won't have that AMG stopping power but no one will know.

If I was going for cosmetic appearance I would just repaint them as you suggest or I will buy the cheap plastic caliper covers with AMG or BREMBO logo that are all over ebay.
The reason I want to change them is because I want a better braking performance and also I have a pretty good deal on a kit of brand new AMG rotors, pads and calipers. I am pretty sure that all w164 share the same wheel hub, but I wanted to double check if anyone here did this upgrade.

I'm pretty happy with braking performance overall. Although I could use more when towing. Haven't towed with the ML yet but going from past experience with previous rides you can can never have enough.
