2007 ML350 not shifting gears

New to the forum and needed some help. In 2010 I purchased a 2007 ML 350 with 50K miles and didn't have any problems until this past summer. The vehicle would be going over 55mph but once brakes were pressed it slips down to first gear and engine would roar and grind but wouldn't shift to next gear. The first time it happen I was turning left and barely missed getting hit by oncoming car. I've had schedule maintenance performed each year and now I hear it could be the balance shaft can anyone help me out? The VIN is 4JGBB86E37A275222.

Thanks,

Darrell C.

Sounds like the transmission valve body conductor plate. About $1600 to repair... good luck!

Thanks for replying Pharaoh, I'll mention that to the MB repair shop when I take it in to get looked at this weekend.

Unfortunately, as indicated by pharaoh, it does indeed appear to be a transmission issue.

Here's my experience:

CLK Group, I've experience a lot of the same issues noted in your link. I'm taking back to dealer tomorrow. I just recently spent $1900 on transmission repair and hoping not to spend that amount again.
