High Mileage W164
I was hoping to run my 2010 for 250,000 miles. Mercedes certainly have the reputation for long lasting cars but does anyone have any high mileage ML350's out there? BTW, 90% of my driving is on the highway and it is not unusual for me to put on 2000 miles in one week on occasion.
Please keep replies on topic to my question.
Thanks!

I just turned 123456 miles on my CDI, so close to half of your goal. Only major failure so far was the tranny being warranty replaced at 98000, and the front diff bearings at 103000. For unscheduled service item, I just replaced the water pump at 120000.
I change oil every 5000 miles, and now tranny fluid at 20000 miles. Everything else serviced per the manual.
It still starts right up, gives 30MPG at 60MPH, and will break the tires loose if I launch aggressive.

Thanks Dgiturbo
It's funny you mentioned the tranny issue. I am a big proponent of oil sampling and I did one on the trans oil which show excessive wear. I have given that report to the dealer to be included in my file and today they updated the trans software. I purchased this vehicle used a CPO, and wasn't able to break it in myself which would have made me more comfortable. In any event, I hope to make this car last for sometime.

It is very sad to think no one has put any measurable mileage on their W164. Putting 50,000 on a year, I should get there soon enough.

Orig Owner ML500 2007 @ 74,500 Miles.
No major issues.
Repair by dealer:
Wheel speed sensor - warranty
Idler - warranty
Leaky valve cover near filler - warranty
side window trims - Not under warranty
Orig Brakes!
Orig Suspension!
4th or 5th set of tires
Great truck, it is our 3rd vehicle and used for trips to tougher parts of town or inclimate weather
Semi-seriously debating replacing it with a W164 Ml63..... or new ML63 AMG..... but this old ml500 just keeps ticking so hard to let her go.

I'm up to 132000 miles now. Replaced the oil cooler and seals since last post. As for tires, try the Nokians. I put them on at 100000 and still have lots of tread. May replace just before this winter as a precaution. They ride great and are excellent in water/snow/ice.

Oil cooler seals have been slow leaking for a while. Got tired of the spots in the driveway. It is an involved job, and if you have the time and space to clean the very oily parts, it is something you could do while following a manual.
I just didn't have the time or a large enough parts cleaner so I negotiated with the dealer and had the technician there I trust do the job.
Cost just under $1700. That would actually be my first out of pocket expense in 130000 miles, so hard to complain. I had them replace both the cooler and seals.

2006 ML350 just hit 81,000 miles, only issue is leaking valve covers. Debating on if I should keep it past 100,000 miles or trade it in before and expensive repairs.

'09 Bluetec with 98k. Replaced oil cooler because significant leak, brakes, etc. Installed Conti eco tires 26k ago and they are the best tires we've had. Barely show wear. Quiet and comfortable, too. The Bridgestone run flats were just the opposite. Horrible.

UPDATE: I have just reached 90,000 miles and the front lower control arms were just replaced under warrantee. After that service the vehicle had a very bad vibration at highway speed. Dealer said it was my tires so I replaced them and the issue remained. Dealer then installed a set of Michelin's which helped. The service manage kept saying, 90k you should expect this, really? Now I am worried to go further.....

75,500 miles and counting....
Hello Everyone... I purchased a new 2007 M-B ML63 AMG back in 2007 and now in 9/2013 I have just over 75,500 miles. It is our weekend / vacation trip vehicle now and therefore will be averaging approx. 10,000 miles per year. I plan to hold onto my ML63 for another couple of years until I reach 100,000 miles and will then sell it.
Servicing
In early 2011, at the 50,000 mile milestone, I had my M-B Dealer perform all of the M-B recommended servicing items noted below that were recommended to be performed and 50,000 miles, as well as those recommended to be performed at 60,000 miles, as a precaution, since I was buying the vehicle off of my original lease. (Mercedes-Benz Maintenance Services: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 12 & 20). I also had all brake pads and rotors replaced on all four wheels, replaced both batteries, tire rotation, 4-wheel alignment, replace rusting lug bolts, (a common problem on all current M-B vehicles), and replace all 3 wiper blades. The total cost for all of this was $3,998.
In the summer of 2012, at the 70,000 mile mark, I had my M-B Dealer do the following recommended service on the vehicle:
1. Perform Mobil One synthetic oil and filter change
2. Perform a 4-Wheel Alignment after they remove my Winter Snow Tires and reinstall and balance my Summer Performance tires on the OEM rims
3. Flush & refill brake fluid (M-B Service 4)
4. Replace A.C. combination filter (M-B Service 5)
5. Replace air cleaner insert (M-B Service 8)
5. Change transmission oil & filter (M-B Service 20)
Issues
For the most part my ML63 has been very reliable over the past six years, with most issues that I have experienced have all been relatively minor, (except for number 6 and 8 below), and all were all corrected by my M-B Dealer and were covered under the original MBUSA vehicle warranty or my M-B Extended Limited Warranty, (except for number 8), and included the following:
1. Air Conditioner Compressor leak (lost refrigerant). AC Compressor was replaced in 2008.
2. Both metal running board tops were oxidizing and were replaced in 2008.
3. Two OEM 20” AMG alloy wheels experienced growing corrosion around the hubs due to clear coat failure. Both wheels replaced in 2009
4. One of the LED video screens in the rear of the passenger side head rest failed and was replaced with a new unit in 2008.
5. Rear tail gate closing issue due to faulty striker and bumpers were repaired in 2009.
6. Replace failed engine serpentine drive belt and isled pulley in 2010.
7. Replace a loose sunroof contact switch in 2013.
8. The ETC module, (the automatic transmission's computer brain), connected to the valve body / conductor plate inside the transmission had malfunctioned and had to be replaced, at a cost for parts & labor of just under $1,000 in Aug. 2013. (Note: my previously purchased MBUSA Extended Limited Warranty had expired on May 30, 2013 so I had to pay this cost out-of-pocket).
I change the engine oil and filter every 6,000 miles as a good preventive maintenance routine.
I just purchased and had my Dealer install four (4) new (OEM) Continental Cross Contact UHP 295/40 ZR 20 high performance tires which are my excellent performing summer performance tires and usually are good for approx. 22-24,000 miles before they need to be replaced.
My winter tires that I put on the 20" OEM rims are 295/40 R20 Pirelli Scorpion ICE & SNOW tires, which work well below 40 deg. F. and are quite good in the snow.
It will be interesting to see if I also eventually experience any leaking valve covers or if the AMG engine's assembly will differentiate it from the other ML gasoline engines.

Original owner of 2006 ML350 with 215,000 miles. Now burning oil at 1 quart every 500 miles. No leakage and no apparent smoke, so I'm at a loss as to why. Any suggestions anyone?
A few years ago I had the bad balance shaft issue (class action lawsuit issue) and was told by the dealer the fix was $8,000 as I had exceeded my warranty mileage a few months earlier. I had brought it in for service with issues related to the balance shaft when it was in warranty and it wasn't taken care of. I went to the manger of the dealership and they took care of it.
I go through tires very quickly.
Other than these issues, I take care of the car, service it and change the oil regularly, and I hope it lasts and lasts. This oil issue concerns me though.

Clean intake turbo from oil, replace rubber (a lot of threads here how to do it) and I think you are going be good for next 200,000 miles

as first step, I'd replace turbo seal rubber - they have new design and it is better fit but even better is to try fit from Sprinter. It is very tight fit and you shouldn't have problem with leak. I got same problem and when I went to dealership, I was told it is normal Don't buy that story. Due to you don't have oil leak on floor it is good indication about problem.

Reviving older thread
Quick update - 07' ML320 CDI with 216K. No Major costly issues (normal wear for pads, oil change every 12k to 15k by me most of the time). I have had the transmission fluid changed at ~100k. Then again ~190K for what dealership thought was a problem, turned out they mis-wired my serpentine belt around the water pump backwards and caused transmission errors until they figured it out.
Two wheel bearings have went, and had the MAF cleaned two times due to poor performance.

If you want to go high mileage I think the trick is to be aware of noises and small symptoms before they become big problems or a breakdown. the highest miles on a truck like mine that I've heard of was 398k and engine showed no noticeable signs of internal wear!

Not a W164. Your engine is M112 predecessor to the M272.
112 is a bulletproof engine, aside from needing 12 sparkplugs, wires and iginition coils.
Just turned 140K Miles.
Too many problems to list, and my girl still loves the damn thing, won't sell it. Looking like we might be needing to replace the intake manifold for the crappy flaps. Pulling a P2189: System Too Lean at Idle bank2

I have 329,242 miles on my 2002 Ml320 that I've had since new. Driveline completely original and runs great! I change the engine oil every 10-13 k based on the mileage "meter" and change the transmission fluid and filter every 75k. It's not to say I haven't had other issues which I mainly attribute to high mileage wear. I've changed two ignition coils and at about 250k changed both cats, and the fan clutch. Since it was mostly apart I changed the belt, hoses, water pump, thermostat, and idler pully too. Better to be proactive, and the idler pully was starting to get noisy. Oops! Forgot about the power steering pump at about the same time. I'll be changing the front rotors with the upcoming brake job. If you have a good source for parts and can do some of the work yourself or have some mechanic friends as I do the costs are not bad.

ML63 2009 no problems to speak of.
I need to fined a leak on the air con, condenser I think but it needs testing again.
Drivers seat has polished and about to be replaced, uses No oil and drives very well.
Just changed the power steering pump and the reservoir, it has a filter inside and has to be changed.

115.000 miles on 2008 ML550. When brand new had a bad tumble flap on intake at 2000 miles. I have replaced 2 rear air shocks due to the wife filling the back with tile passed overload. At 110,000 miles I had everything serviced per MB recommendation. I always have run 0 w 40 mobile one. This time they screwed up and put in 10w30 M1. Immediately it started throwing a P0025 code( cam shaft sensor on drivers side. I cleared it several times and never noticed any engine miss. I replaced the oil with 0 w 40 M1 and no more codes.

Mercedes 2004 ml350 and a 2003 Mercury =Mercman
Recently purchased a used 2004 ML350 with 183,000 miles on it. Background check revealed original owner did proper maint. 2nd owner did not. Had to replace rear bumper knocked off by police in P.I.T. maneuver. New battery and oil change and it was good as new. Rear bumper cover was $350.00 but easier to replace than battery.
