The problem starting engine
Hi all
I have a 2010 ml350 benz. I have faced problem with starting the engine in sometimes. My benz has smartkey system. Let me describe problem
When i switch on the ignition position, no power come on then engine does start proper. After i tried several times, the engine started normal. Is this ignition switch problem? Would you give me advice?
Please help me to solve this issue.
Sincerely,
Ganbaa

Is your ML350 petrol or diesel?
If it is diesel, when you start from cold, the engine does not crank until the glow plugs have warmed up. This may take a few seconds.
Once the engine is warm, the engine will crank almost immediately after the key is turned to start, or the keyless button is pushed.

If you get nothing, no dash warning/check lights or radio, it's likely the EIS (electronic ignition switch). The wife's 2011 just had one replaced a few weeks ago. We tried both keys and the result was the same with both keys. Sometimes it would start right away, other times you had to wait until it was happy again.
