Interior LED upgrade (FAIL)

So I ordered on ebay what looked to be a complete Interior LED kit for our W164.

Went ahead and installed the foot wells and checked them out.

PROBLEM.

They light up. BUT they don't shut off after you close the door like the stock halogen bulbs do. They just dim down and stay on.

This is distracting when driving. Id this a common problem? Is there a fix?

Thanks.

I have upgraded interior LED while ago and it is working perfectly. You can find post here (or other forum) about proper LED module which it is perfectly working for our car.

Here is your starting point of research:

My next project is parking lights

Thanks Alex. My only worry is that yours is pre-facelift. If someone had this combo working on a 09 and after it would make me feel better about spending more money. I've spent to much only to see every combo fail.

I'm guessing here because I have similar issues with industrial controls. The SAMs have solid state outputs that leak current even in the off state. You may need LEDs with built-in swamping resistors. Can't help with a source for those, but they do exist.

I have an 09 and I upgraded all my interior bulbs to leds the foot well lights stay on the whole time (well my lights are set to always be on). I guess I will have to check next time to see if they dim. I wasn't able to get the leds to not throw a code for the license plate lights

I tried the LED's with the built in resistors. Had 10 different ones left over from my failed attempts at getting the rear plates to work without error codes. No dice.

The 09-11 models are just not meant to have LED upgrades. I am surprised I got the parking lights to work.

I was in your skin a few years ago. I used specific LEDs and it worked for me. I think it should work for you as well. You can always contact seller and ask him if he sold those LEDs to somebody else with same car model.

As option, don't buy full set - just try a few and if it is working buy more I was fitness on this forum where user bought LED which it didn't work for him and he sold it to another user without telling full story.

I am betting it is going to work but ....

I found the one that works good. (Don't look at 4 month life comment in my post - I guess I had a faulty bulb - the other set lasted till I sold the car)
Other car but should not be different since all of them CANBUS. Unless MLs use different kind of bulbs which probably still can be found in the same configuration.
I got mine at Alieexpress cheap.
