08 320cdi- Changed Fuel Filter for 1st time

I have 80k on my 08 diesel. I decided to change the fuel filter myself. Wasn't bad at all. The suv was still warm when I changed it, but there was no pressure release or big mess of diesel like some warned. I followed directions from this site & a good You Tube video. I did not use the factory click r hose clamps. I took others advice & bought some screw type fuel line hose clamps size 12.5-14mm. I used a Mann filter. It took less than 1hr. No leaks. I did fill the filter with diesel before carefully installing. The engine still took 1-2secs longer to start than normal the 1st time. But after that, starts normally. I paid $38 for filter & a few dollars for a small box of the fuel line hose clamps. I think my dealer quoted $170 if they changed it.

Doing them every 20K as recommended I got pretty good. The most difficult part is always putting the intake back on the turbo without pinching that gasket.

Yeah, taking the air intake off & on is the most difficult part.

Although not as bad as having to mess with the intake, I did mine myself for the first time. I did purchase the special hose clamp tool from ebay and everything went fine.
I did not fill the filter but turned the key on for 30 seconds, then turned the key off, then started it. I assume that there must be a return line going back to the tank to purge any air in the system. When the car first started, it gave a slight shake, but straightened out.
