Service D - ML320 CDI

Hello, I needed some help/advice on how to proceed with this service. I have about 2 weeks before this service is Due. I currently have ~44k miles on it.

As per the Maintenance booklet, it says the following services are needed (@40k miles)
Svc #2 - Apparently a very thorough inspection of the vehicle.
Svc #3 – Engine Oil and Filter Change
Svc #4 – Replace Brake Fluid
Svc #8 – Replace Air Cleaner Insert
Svc #11 – Replace Fuel Filter
Svc #20 – Automatic Transmission – Oil & Filter Change

I was planning on doing the oil/filter change, Replace Engine Air filters, and Fuel Filter myself and have the transmission fluid and brake fluid replaced by an independent mechanic or the dealer.

1. Is the engine air filters and fuel filter difficult to change?
2. Is there another service item that I should also consider doing?
3. I'm hearing mixed things about changing the Transmission fluid. The manual says every 40k miles and the dealerships/technicians say it is "up to me" if I want to do it. If it matters, there is no jerkiness or rough shifting whatsoever.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi , just changed my air filters ,fuel filter ,oil and filter , not hard but takes about 2 hours to complete, don't bother to fill diesel filter , once fitted just switch on ign only ,the pump will run for 10 sec only ,you will hear bubbles coming from the tank, switch off and back on again for another 10 seconds then start engine .
there are good how to on u tube, once you have done the air filters the next time would be so easy.
As far as the auto box dealers just drop sump change filter and refill sump and dont drain the converter were most of the fluid is , seems daft to mix old with new fluid.

Thanks davey one...appreciate the info.

Update: I looked at the brake fluid and it is still clear (I can see the bottom hole in the reservoir). It is a very light brown color. It didn't seem to be degraded, or is it???

Hello , brake fluid absorbs moisture and lowers the boiling point , so no good loking at colour you can buy a checker or most garages have one , here in Western Australia its a very dry place and fluid stays in spec for years.
