Changing tire size on same rim?
I have an ML 350 4matic with 20" wheels so tires are 265/45/20 - Conti 4x4 Contact. There are only a couple tires that are available in that odd size (at least in So. Arizona). - the OE Conti 4x4 Contact, Conti Cross Contact LX Sport, Pirelli Scorpion Verde A/S, and Pirelli Scorpion Zero Asimmetrico. HOWEVER, there are many more choices if I buy 275/45/20s (Michilins, Bridgestones, Conti Extreme Contact, etc). So, auto and engineering experts please give me your advice about whether it is okay to up-size to 275s or if it is important to stay with the 265s. Thanks for your help.

a 275/45 is only .4" wider than 265/45. As I recall on my own 20" EOM wheels (replaced with after market), that won't cause any problems - either protruding beyond the fender or contacting brake/etc. on the inside.
The speedo will be off approx 1% - but who drives within that tolerance anyway.

I say don't guess, go to http://www.tirerack.com/, search for sizes you are interested in, and drill down to the nitty gritty details.
275/45-20's typically roll 697 revs per mile, 265/45-20's roll 712.
I don't know what is going on with Hankook but if shopping for tires this price is near irresistible. If they are junk this is cheap enough to throw them away and buy something else: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....=yes&tab=Specs
