Ceramic brakes and drilled/slotted rotors for an ML550?

Does anyone have first-hand experience of upgrading to ceramics?

Can you recommend brands that worked/didn't work?

Front and rears, or just fronts?

Drilled and/or slotted?

I am looking for the same braking performance as OEM but less dust and no noise.
I don't mind compromising on shorter rotor life.

RockAuto show the Akebono "Euro Ultra Premium Ceramic Pad w/ Electronic Wear Sensor" is a popular item but no particular rotors are shown as preferred.

Thanks!
P.S. I did search the forums but the comments I found were not very conclusive and I wanted to get actual experiences.

I replaced mine with Hawk Ceramic and BBS slotted/drilled rotors, love them. Less dust (almost none). Braking is still almost the same except on cold morning (below 30c) on the first application they don't have the initial bit of the stock pad/rotor combo.

Mark.

Thanks for the recommendation. I can't find compatibility with my 2010 ML550 vehicle on any of the sites I've tried. Tirerack/Autoanything/hawkperformance.com/hawkpadsdirect etc.
What year is your ML500? where did you get your parts?

It's a 2006.

I went on line for the Parts. The rotors were Brimbo's with a optional cross drilling offered by the supplier. The pads came from the same supplier.
With CRS, I think the whole package was about $600 maybe a bit more, it was 2 years ago.

Right now I need a New front diff. So the ML is parked for good.

I am currently looking into this setup. I have contacted R1Concepts for the rotors and pads. I just need to determine if my front rotors are 330mm or 350mm.

Unfortunately, my plate is really full at the moment and I havent found the time to remove wheels to measure the rotors. I will post back here if I find time this weekend.

My dealer confirmed the part number by VIN for my 2010 ML550 rotors as 164-421-1412 F, 164-423-1312 R.
He measured the front rotors in stock as 14" which is equivalent to 350mm, vented.
