DRL Conversion - How?

Guys, I need some help here.

The vehicles here in Canada require day time running lights. My vehicle is a 2008 ML model. The problem is the headlights are served as DRL, as a result, the bulbs are running full time and they burn out every 2 years. Also, it is a pain to install the light bulbs with the metal brackets behind.

What I am thinking is divert those DRL to the fog lights since they are much more easy to replace the bulbs (I think they are h8 bulbs).

Is anyone here successfully re-wired the DRL from the headlights (low beam) to the fog lights, so that the headlights will turn on automatically when the sky is dark?

If so, can you please tell me how to do this conversion?

Thanks.
