Black under glass fading, under D Pillar

Black under glass fading, under D Pillar
Hi.
Got the 06 ML350, I know the W163 had a tendency for the external black trim on the D Pillar to fade and/or erode etc.
Whereas my W164 seems to have the black part of the glass which sits under the internal trim is fading, refer to attached picture.
Most rear glass have a black border around the glass and is often only seen from the outside, I guess black out the glass so you don't see the panel work in the car, anyhow, I can't figure out why it's faded and how to get it fixed.
Has anyone had the same problem? I sort of nudges the internal trim on the D Pillar a little but it looks like even if you pull the pillar trim off the worn part is between the glass and the car panel, not 100% sure as didn't want to wreck the internal panel.
Any advice would be appreciated.
