Is this metal pipe supposed to be connected to something ??
Hi, I am new to mercedes, and pretty impressed so far. I have an MY 08 ML280.
I am finding the gearbox has some weird things happen when taking off in first gear once it is hot. Hard shifts and almost slipping then grabbing. So first things first, is this metal tube in the picture supposed to be connected to anything ?
Passenger side Australian vehicle. Thought it weird to be left open.
That looks like the vent tube for the front diff.. The end of it is mounted higher so water doesn't get in the diff. If you follow it back it is going to be connected to the diff.
Thanks Anthony, i will have a look. Still not that high above the diff for a breather. If so i can always put some hose over it and bring it up higher.
