Bought a 2009 ML 320 a few weeks ago and recently got the glow plug controller CEL. While attempting to locate the controller, I came across this, not plugged in to anything, any ideas what it is? Or where it goes? Says "A 023 545 53 26" on it.

Thanks!

From a quick Google search, I bet it connects to the water sensor in the fuel filter,

While finishing up the oil cooler seal job on my 09 GL320 and I found a connector with the same part # "A 023 545 53 26" too. I spent about 45 minutes trying to figure out where it should be plugged into. I don't recall seeing it when I yanked the wire bundle off. I did a search and it lead me to this thread. Since N_jay mentioned about the water sensor in the fuel filter which reminded me the part guy at the dealer gave me a wrong filter at the counter and he asked me if mine had 2 or 3 wires. I think it is for the other filter with 3-wire connector. I just want to update this thread for someone who may have the same question. can we use the other filter...just curious

So, Are you saying the wiring harness (at least some) have connectors for either type of sensor?

Yes, it is exactly like the pic posted by the OP. I looked at my 07 E320 and I did not see one in there. Part guy at dealer told me MB use 2 different filters(2 or 3 wires). since it is near the filter and I assume it is for that filter.

So in this case the 2-pin is on the filter and the 3-pin hangs loose waiting??

I talked to the guy at MB parts dept again he said it was either 3 or 5 pins. google found 3 types of filter. Sorry, it was my mistake by saying it was 2-pin. I gave him the part # A 023 545 53 26 and he said it was a pressure connector housing. it doesn't indicate what pressure sensor it is for on the system. At the mean time I'll just let it dangling there until I finish my AC compressor installation this weekend and then hook it up to DAS to see what it would say.

Update: Just shove it aside...SDS did not see any fault code.
