1500 miles out of warranty and this...
On my way back from a long holiday trip, noticed the steering was groaning a bit. Stopped by dealer, they found the steering rack leaking. Initial quote somewhere around $2000.00. I asked the dealer to push MB to cover this and was denied. My warranty was not up prior to leaving for vacation. I am going to call MBUSA myself, and see if there is any "goodwill" gestures left. I am at 136,500, CPO warranty ran out at 135,000. UGHhhhh. Has anyone had any luck with getting things covered when slightly out of warranty?
TIA

2008 ML320 CDI Bought 3/2012 CPO Iridium Silver/Black MBTex, P2 pkg, hitch 134,700 miles
If it was purchased 3/2012 the CPO warranty is long expired. Or am i missing something? it seems you would be out of warranty based on time, not miles.

Yes for the ML320, I bought the extended CPO coverage, good until 3/2015 or 135000 miles. With the CPO you get 12 months or 100,000 miles, I purchased the extra 2 years good until 135,000 miles.
What has been covered up until this, door window switch, sunroof switch, rear power outlet, rear ball joint, rear springs, transfer case. hatch lock assembly. I has paid for itself.

Technically you are out of the warranty period and I guess they are not obligated to do anything but it seems like they would at least give you some type of discount considering that you are still within the warranty time period. You can also argue the fact that the extended CPO warranties like what you bought now include unlimited mileage.
Even if they offered a discount I would still get a quote from an independent shop which could even be lower than dealer discounted prices. It will certainly be lower than the quote you were given.

Well verdict is in, they are going to pick 75% of the cost. That leaves me a bill for about $500.00, of which I will get my 15% MBCA discount. I am very pleased. You are right, technically they didnt have to do anything.
