Wheel and tire question

I'm thinking about getting new wheels and tries for my 2011 ML350. It currently has original 19" wheels it came with, and original Michelin 255/50/R19 tires (only 18k miles).

I'm considering either 20" or 22" wheels. Going from 19" to 20" doesn't seem to be a significant difference so I'm leaning a bit more towards 22". Is that OK or overkill?

For 22", this is one possibility I'm considering: http://www.ebay.com/itm/SET-4-22-M-BENZ-GL350-GL450-ML350-ML320-ML500-GL550-ML420-WHEEL-TIRE-PKG-/121187212982?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Wheel_Packages&hash=item1c37521eb6, however I would probably buy different but the same size tires 285/35/R22. Plugging this into width offset calculator I get what's below. Could anyone tell me if that will work without issues?

Inner Clearance: 33.4mm less
Outer Position: extend by 17.4mm
Diameter difference: 0.81" (2.73%)

And for 20", http://www.ebay.com/itm/20-Mercedes-Benz-Wheel-Tire-PKG-GL450-ML-GL63-GL-ML550-GL550-ML350-R500-ML500-/121426883875?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Wheel_Packages&hash=item1c459b3523, again I would probably buy different but the same size tires 275/45/R20. Will this work without issues?

Inner Clearance: 22.05mm less
Outer Position: extend by 16.05mm
Diameter difference: 0.7" (2.37%)

Thanks for your help.

I just installed 20x10" ET54 wheels on my 2007 ML320 CDI with 275/45-20 tires. I think 285s will work but you need to be careful of the wheel offset. I found most wheels where listing in the ET40's which is too far out, made for the ML63 with its fender flares.

Hmmm, I really want to stick to the wheels that look like original MB wheels. Those 20x10s have 45 offset.
You can get a regular model with AMG wheels so how are they doing it without having the wheels stick out too much?

Hmm, well according to this website, 2011 models had ET between 40-42 on 20" and 22" wheels. When I check it for 2007 models the info is fairly similar. How do you know the original wheels were ET57?

Because it was stamped on the back of the wheel.

They where not the original wheels, just what came on it when I bought it.

i found info wrong all over, worst was the companies selling wheels listed them in the ET40's. Simple math to figure out what fits and how.

Take off one of your wheels and check the offset yourself. Measure the backspace available and use an only fit calulator to see what you need.

If you go from an 8" wide wheel to a 10" wide wouldn't you want to adjust the offset by an inch to keep the center of the tire in the same place?

If I were to replace my OE 19" wheels I'd go to 18" or 17" for less expensive tires and for safer off-roading. Heck, the potholes are bad enough around here to worry about 50 series tires. I'd hate to have 35 or 40's.

My ML320 came with the same wheels as GL, rims are 8.5" wide but same tires as the gas ML350 with 8.0" wide rims.
