My 2007 Ml350 with 104k miles diagnosed with balance shaft problem (codes 0017 and 0016). I also did the check with crankshaft aligned at 305 degrees and found one of the pulse wheels on the cam slightly out of alignment. MB dealer also diagnosed and quoted $7k to repair. Anyone has suggestion of shop in the Chicago area that I might get the repair done at more reasonable price? Thanks

Search for the class action lawsuit. You might be eligible. Its been decided already. I got a letter but I never had the problem. Also Im out of the range so I threw the letter away.

Kenny, thanks for the info. I also got the letter regarding the class action suit and has been following it. As I understand it, if the work is done by non-MB shop I could submit claim for the percentage of the cost. I am just trying to have it done at a lower price than at MB dealer.Originally Posted by Kennyr

Anyone in the Chicago area has any suggestions on more reasonanle cost repair shop. Also, any thoughts about if it might be best to just replace the engine with maybe a 2008 engine?
