Front Passenger Door Malfunctions (Multiple)
2006 ML350.......
Front passenger door has multiple malfunctions and I'm having difficulty tracing them. I recently repaired the ribbon wire that had previously been snapped and stapled back together. I have continuity throughout and there is no cross continuity. That's what I had previously thought was causing the issues I'm experiencing.
List of problems;
-Window will roll up but not down
-Lock switch will only unlock
-Once locked, no matter the method, the door will still unlock from the outside (primary concern)
-Courtesy light does not work (this could still be a bulb but it's the least of my concerns)
Obviously, the locking issue is primary. I can hear the lock/un-lock functioning but I can always open it from the outside. If I open it from the outside within about 5 seconds all the other doors unlock and the alarm does not sound. If I open it after 5 seconds the alarm does sound.
I don't think this is a vehicle specific issue but this is an area that I have never had to learn the details about so I'm shooting in the dark and I would prefer not to disassemble the working drivers side door just to inspect the differences
. I honestly thought fixing the ribbon wire would solve my problems.

I would try replacing the ribbon wire first. If that was the original problem. Do you have the part number? Can I ask how did the wire become damaged in the first place?
