ML320CDI long crank, 2nd attempt start
Good day fellow ML owners, I recently experienced the following issue, got into the car in the morning, put the key in 2nd position waited for the coils light to go off and switched on the engine, it cranked for about 5 seconds and cut off, i switched it back to off position and repeating the process- started normally 2nd time around, further after 2-4 minutes of driving it went into limp mode. Went to mechanic and OBDII showed swirl motor error, known problem due to oil leaks from the turbo- replaced the motor and the rubber to prevent future leaks. The next morning the issue with the long crank was still there and it started on the first crank but after about 3-4 seconds with a lot of smoke from the pipes, then through the day I would leave the car for 4-5 hours and no problem starting it again, so its only morning issue. Worth mentioning that I no longer get limp mode, so changing swirl motor solved that.
After reading through the forum identified that it might one of the following 1) Fuel pump (fuel filter has been recently replaced). 2) CPS and 3) Glow plugs... Would appreciate your advise, the car currently has 150k km on the clock, Im the 2nd owner and running through the log book of service, only oil leaks have been previously reported.
